Hello I just installed this drive as a replacement for another I/O dvd burner, set jumpers the same & what seems to happen is that it literally stalls the machine in fact it hangs the browser to open for aprox 2 minutes it even hangs when I open my computer or device manager like it is looking for something, noticed at random the hd light flashes on occasion.Once I do the wait thing the machine works fine like nothing is wrong in XP professional,no errors in device manager either.
XP sp1, only critical updates installed.Don't use IE much either.

I uninstalled the software for the old burner I deleted all the dvd & cd in device manager & let windows find it. I tried setting the ma/sl/cs eash way on the same ribbon, replaced the ribbon,tied the drive as ma on the cable alone & removed the jumper as well with same result.

This is a dual boot machine with win98 & if I go into 98 all works fine so I know drive is good. The drive is a repackaged BenQ. I know some users do not like I/O however the price is what swayed me,& I read BenQ were pretty good some where. Thanks in advance.Any help would be appreciated
