Pioneer DVD-108 writer causing scratch marks on DVD

The first 8 DVDs that i wrote were great.........but of late after writing the DVDs i am noticing scratch marks on them...they play perefectly in my DVD player but the marks on them are terrible......i have not made any changes to my PC onfiguration except instalation of WinXP service pack 2.

Any idea what the problem could be ?

Might just be some kind of particles have gotten into your drive. Next time you open the drive drawer, blow a few puffs of compressed air inside and check the open drawer itself for any nicks as sharpened plastic will scratch just about anything.
