man, what a weird night it's been.
It started off with me wanting to make a new CD with the latest Infinity BIOS, latest Infinity Manager, and my newest 48-bit patched HDLoader as BOOT.ELF.
So I took my old disc, ripped all the files from it and replaced my old HDLoader elf with the new one and the old bios.bin file with the new one. I also changed the menu name for hdloader in the install.cnf file.
I then packed everything up with CDGENPS2 and burned it to a disc, however that disc refused to load. It would show up as a PS2 disc in the browser and selecting it would cause the screen to go blank and I could hear the disc spinning up, but then nothing would happen. I burned several more cd's each time varying the order I put the files on the CD and such but to no avail. I loaded up PS2MENU-K and browsed to the CD and tried to run both the Manager.ELF and the HDLOADER.ELF and both would get to the line "Loader returned 11" like normal and then just sit there and the disc would keep spinning up and down. I don't know what the heck was causing this but it was really weird as not only would the discs not boot but none of the elf's on the disc would even run right.
I put the discs back in my comp to make sure I could read all the files and everything seemed fine.
Finally I rebooted and started all over from scratch and sure enough everything worked perfectly. I have no idea what the heck was up, but my guess is that something was amiss with cdgenps2 or my burner and rebooting simply fixed it. I can't come up with any other explanation for all the coasters I made tonight!
Well, anyway, i was just exasperated and needed to share my story. Thanks for listening :-)
