This may be a small comment, but it took me two hours trying to figure it out.
If you want to just read the meat of the post, skip to "Important conclusion" below.

I can't believe I didn't think of it, as I work in Networking.

I was using Phoenix 2.5 (guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/96141#504122 download: http://www.maxconsole.com/?mode=gotodownload&downloadid=474 ), and attempting to stream metroid prime 2.

Everything seemed to be working fine, psul loaded to memcard, the server was recognizing my PC's ip, as well as the gamecubes.
My network configuration (on the gamecube looked fine).

The only difference was, because I want to eventually get "this" to work through a router; I was not using the standard addresses (gamecube: 192.168.1.32, and PC: 192.168.1.100). I was using gamecube: 192.168.1.32, PC: 192.168.0.4. If you're into networking, you're probably laughing right now; especially since I mentioned that I too have networking knowledge, and this took me two hours to figure out.
They're on different subnets.
I was getting host unreachable errors from all the servers.

--Important Conclusions--

You can set up your Gamecube with any address; even a DHCP address (as long as it's reserved).
You can also use the existing IP address assigned to your PC from your router (as long as it is also reserved).

Things to know:
-Basics (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/96141 or http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/61273)
-How to access your router's configuration (refer to router documentation)
-How to set a DHCP reservation with your router (refer to docs)

Set the IP reservations:
1)Access your router's configuration (usually http://192.168.0.1, for login name and password refer to documentation or http://www.wifi-forum.com/wf/showthread.php?t=1385 )

2)Set IP reservations. (refer to router documentation). This is usually assigned by MAC address. Note the Gamecube's IP, and the PC's IP. Let's say 192.168.0.32 for gamecube, and 192.168.0.4 for PC.

3)Forward TCP ports 1190, 5173, and 9002 to your computer (192.168.0.4). (refer to router documentation)

Setting the IP addresses:

This is the important screen in the Network Configuration on your Gamecube (via Phantasy Star Online I & II).

"IP Address" is your Gamecube's IP address.
"Subnet Mask" is always going to be 255.255.255.0. (check webopedia.com for the definition of subnet mask)
"Default Gateway" & "Primary DNS" should both be set to your PC's IP address.

That's it.

Proceed to setup your Gamecube using one of these guides:

Sorry - just a beginner - i've just downloaded phoenix 2.3 and Qubism 1.1.

My PC and Gamecube are not on the standard IP addresses - where do i need to change these settings? Both on IPS setup in PSO and in Phoenix config?

Qubism works fine but i can't launch a game.

Thanks,
David

also - i can get phoenix working by itself - i.e. i can load games using phoenix directly., However if i use qubism it does not work. Loader are started such as AC 1.4 but are in waiting mode forever, i.e. gamecube screen says 'initialising' and dos command prompt for loader says 'waiting'... any idea what might be wrong with my qubism configuration?
