backups aren't working!

I have a DUO2 SE mod chip installed in my v2 PS2.

All types of originals are booting properly,but I can't seem to get PS2/PSX cd backups to boot. I havn't tried DVD backups yet, since I'm not getting a DVD Writer until Christmas.

I'm booting the backups properly, but I just get a "disc read error."

I'm after copying Metal Gear Solid twice and NHL 2001 twice, to test the chip. I now have 4 coasters. I tried both Alcohol 120% and CloneCD.

Could it be my media? I'm using Memorex Cd-R's, the kind that came in a case of 20 or so.

I've tried 1x, 2x and 4x, however there was an error when burning at 1x so I've never acutally tried a game burnt at 1x on my Ps2.

4x should be fine for cdr backups, all i can suggest is to try a different brand of media
