DVD-R not working on playstation 2

hey guys, i am really stumped to say the least. I took a DVD that i own, ploped it into my DVD drive. I made an iso file of the entire DVD, then used instantCD/DVD, took that iso and used the UDF VIDEO option to burn it. It works flawlessly on my computer and even on my apex but my playstation 2 keeps asking me to input a playstation 2 format cd. I have even used nero to do this same process and i get the same problem. My friend tried it on his computer and it works flawlessly but it asks him to input a DVD when he tries on his panasonic. Please help... I have even used DVD decrypter program to get the files onto my harddisk and i tried it that way and it still doesn't work. This is crazy....

What media are you using and what model Playstation?

US Playstation 2 and i am using the dvd-r's with the white tops and purple bottom.

What model number of playstation? Some of the earlier models have a hard time playing discs.
