DVD-R -- frame freezes in stand alone player

My burned DVD-R's are having a couple frame freezes in my stand alone player. I have an older DVD player (4 ys old) and haven't tested in another player yet. I don't know if its my player, the media I'm using, the software or the burner. help would be much appreciated!
here's the critical info:

NEC 3500A DVD+/- 16x Dual Layer Burner (brand new)
Cambridge Soundworks DVD player (4 yrs old)
TDK CD-R 8x media
Copy original DVD with cloneDVD
Burn with NeroExpress

HELP!

I forgot to add that I burned the same movie again (the same way/same TDK DVD-R) and it freezes at different points in the movie. not sure if this is significant.

Your problem is usually media related. I would try a few different brands (maybe Ritek or Verbatim) and see which one your burner and player like the best.

thanks. going to bestbuy tonight to pick up better media. will return here with results. does flashing with latest firmware help?

A firmware flash could help. Also if burning at a high speed (8X) drop speed to 4X. This sometimes help burn problems on cheaper media.

thanks for the help. bestbuy didnt have Verbatim DVD-R's, so i reburned the media I had (TDK) at 4x and it played through without freezing. hopefully thats the trick.
