Hi all,

Hopefully I'm not being too much of a total newb with this question, but I had something pretty weird happen with my Lite-on 811S burner (4X DVD-R, 8X DVD+R) recently in Nero and all other burning apps. Basically, even though I'm using the same media I always have (Fujifilm 8X) I am only given the option of buring at 1X speed.

The only change I made to my system recently was removing my older Lite-on 48X CD-RW drive to install it in my wife's computer. The 811S is now the master device (set by jumper, not cable select) on IDE channel two. There is no slave drive on this channel.

The only other change I made in the CD-RW removal was replacing my flat ATA-66/100 EIDE cables with rounded ones from Cooler Master. I haven't tried reverting to my old cables yet.

Note that I am still able to burn CD-R at full 48X in Nero and other apps, which seems weird.

Edit: I just ran Nero Infotool, which also reports the maximum write speed of the drive as 2X. Ack.

Any thoughts on what may be behind this? I've pretty much reached the end of my admittedly limited expertise . :)
