Everytime I consider buying a drive, I always look for error tests (ie kprobe) and use media with the lowest errors. But recently I was thinking to myself, does any of it even matter?

I mean, I can copy whatever I burned back onto my hardrive, and it will be the exact same file as before I burned it. What gets burned to the disc is burned to the disc. I can't imagine what high kprobe error readings really affect. As long as I use a good burner, and good media.

Someone enlighten me on this topic.

i think it matters alot if you want high quality discs and burns
the lower the errors, then the longer the disc is
supposed to last
the higher the errors, then the life of the disc will be significantly shorter
all of this is relatively new, so nobody knows for sure but it is the best way to try to predict the disc's future right now
