Hello forum people

I have a problem, now i own a PS2 and i bought a new MAXTOR 120 GB hard drive for my computer, so i took out my old SEAGATE 40 gb and i installed it into my PS2 via my network adapter, it fits very well, but nothing compes up on the screen saying that the system has recognised the H.D.D, i know this could be due to a few thing, like no software telling the system there is a hard drive, or maybe it is a compatability issue, but i read that some somewhere that quite a lot of the SEAGATE hard drives do and will work, i have sent a few emails to some of the big companies regarding the HS ADVANCE version 2.00 because my PS2 is not modded in any way at all hence the HD ADVANCE, the thing is that i have been downloading things from the net to help me, and i am using WINRAR, and i am just not getting anywhere at all, i own a DVD writer and the model is an NEC DVD+RW 1100A and i am just wanting to be able to use my old SEAGATE Hard Drive to test, any info would be helpful, i read this forum a lot and wow, some of you people are really clever ?
