Having same problem as "permatex". Just purchased SONY DVD/VHS combo recorder model VX500. Top of the line. But I get error messages about VHS tape being copyright protected and can't record from the VHS tape to the DVD-R. Unit very nice using the one-touch copy feature, but the $500+ price not worth it if I can't convert my VHS movies to DVD. Any solutions to this? If not, I may as well return the recorder.
