I've been gettign really frustrated lately. I used to be able to burn DVD's No Problem. Whether using shrink or alc but not anymore. I have failures trying to copy dvd's and when trying to burn DVD ISO's it seems that cd's burn fine but havent done much of that lately. Im running win XP Pro sp1. I have both a mad dog external in a USB 2 enclosure from bytecc not sure on model number sorry. I also have an internal DVD Burner. Neither seem to work anymore. I always get coasters regardless of which program I use. Its very frustrating. I tried using an RW but that doesnt help. Its a friends and im trying to burn an ISO for him right now,. Nero version is 6.3.0.0. Alcohol is version1.4.8 build 1222. I know they arent newest but I dont see why that matters much since it was working. I just formatted my PC since I was having some problems sparaticly but its the same if not worse now and I dont have a clue as to whats causing it whether it be Windows crappiness, drivers(win drivers or other), or what the hell it is. Its not just a USB issue since I have an internal IDE DVD Burner and an external. you'd think one would work. Let me know if you have any suggestions im desperate. This is my first post to this forum BTW. Looks like a great place I was looking throught another forum i found through google but it was in regards to external USB burners only so I figured id sign up and post a fresh one. Thanks in advance for any help and if nothing works ill just stop doing anything with dvd's I guess.
On a side note I am having another problem with an external HD enclosure. Cant remember brand off hand but its happened with the aluminum 3.5" HDD encosure I have now along with 2 bytecc 5.5" enclosures i've had in the past. When using an HD with win XP pro SP1 in the enclosure it seems to work the first time its plugged in and powered on but as soon as I remove it it doesnt work after that. windows detects a mass storage device does the "i detected some hardware beep dong thing" then does it one or two more times like I unplugged it. I Thought it was weird since its happened with 3 enclosures, all USB2 with IDE Interface. Is it some issue with shatty Windows USB drivers or what Please let me know. Id love to solve one or both of my huge problems. Thanks for listening and sorry for the long post but i've been holding this in for a while and just remembered the wonderous power of forums.
