I have an ND2510-A, 8x +/- dual layer burner. I've been burning fine with Nero 6 Ultra and regular 4.7G media for a few weeks now, but I've only just recently tried burning a dual-layer disc. I got some Ridata 2.4x +R DL discs and tried burning them the same way as any other DVD project (only not Shrunk), and the burn failed a couple of minutes in. Sadly, Nero can't run a simulation test on this type of media.

Before I waste another expensive DVD+DL, does anyone else have experience with this particular drive and this particular media? The current firmware is 2.15. The NEC website has fw rev. 2.16 available, but they don't show what media might have been added in that revision. Would rather not risk flashing the firmware if it doesn't resolve the problem.

I was expecting good results since Ridata has been the most reliable for my NEC burners. But perhaps another brand, Verbatim?, would be a safer bet. It looks like the 3500A drives are having trouble with the Ritek 2.4x DLs too. Wondering if other DL drives are able to use this media, and it's just an NEC/firmware issue...

any ideas? thanks,
