Hello eveyone

I will try to make this short and sweet. I have been having problems with Nero buffer speed issues. I am getting coastersL Buffer speed have been 98% to 28% to 32% etc. I have looked up this issue on the net all over. I cannot get a single good result. I have just started having this issue say a week and a half.

SETUP - P4 3.0Ghz, 1gig ram, 6800gt GC, 2HD's, 1 dvd-rom, 1 Optorite 8X DVD+RW/-RW Drive Model DD0405

Here is what I have done all together in one form or another

1) Defragemented the hard drive = nothing!
2) Bought a whole new burner = nothing!
3) Formatted the whole HD = nothing!
4) Bought a different brand of disc = nothing!
5) Uninstalled and reinstalled Nero = nothing!
6) Put files from movies onto other HD = nothing!
7) Updated drives for burner, software, etc = nothing!
8)Tried two other programs but same results coasters = nothing!
9) Shut down all programs including Spyware etc = nothing!

As of late I have asked friends and they are saying that it?s a slave HD issue IDE issue? Ring a bell to anyone? I have no idea what to do. ANY?AND I MEAN ANY SUGGESTIONS THAT YOU CAN GIVE WOULD BE GREAT!

Here is a log from me stopping the burn in Nero...

DMA should be on for all devices.
DMA Mode for ATA/ATAPI Devices in Windows XP.
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/IDE-DMA.mspx

Windows XP downgrades the Ultra DMA transfer mode after receiving six CRC errors and drops it down to the much slower PIO mode.

To enable DMA mode using the Device Manager
1. Open Device Manager
2. Double-click IDE ATA//ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers and channels.
3. Right-click the icon for the channel to which your burner is connected and select Properties. Now click the Advanced Settings tab.
4. In the Current Transfer Mode drop-down box, select DMA if available if the current setting says, "PIO Only."
If the drop-down box already says, "DMA if Available" but the current transfer mode is PIO, then the user must "toggle" the settings. That is, change the selection from "DMA if available" to PIO only, and click "OK".
Then repeat the steps above to change the selection to "DMA if available".

If the Current Transfer Mode cannot be changed to DMA with the steps above try these options.

OPTION: Right-click the burner and select "Uninstall" and then "OK" all prompts until the PC reboots. Upon rebooting, the PC should "find" your burner and reinstall it setting it by "Default" to DMA.

OPTION: Right-click the Primary or Secondary IDE Channel the devices are on and select "Uninstall" and then "OK" all prompts until the PC reboots. Upon rebooting, the PC should reinstall that IDE Channel setting it by "Default" to DMA.
