EQ'ing DVD-A Output

How do you guys go about EQ'ing your DVD-A and SACD playback? I have a Denon 2200 Universal and Harman Kardon AVR-325, but the direct inputs on the AVR bypass the bass and treble pots. I haven't seen any high end AVR's that will touch the direct inputs. Most that do digital conversion on analog inputs don't do conversion on the direct inputs. I'm thinking about getting a multichannel EQ and putting it in-line between the Denon and Harman. Has anyone here done something like this?
