Games locking after successful loading

Hello everyboby
I bought the Swap Magic recently and tried to load some good quality PS2 CDR backups of a friend of mine. I have the following problem: in most games (for instance "Bust a move") the game loads well but when I come to the part of the actual playing, the console freezes.
can anyone help, please?

Your burn speed could also be a factor. Try burning at 1x if your writer supports it. Another issue could be the lens in your PS2. Try cleaning/adjusting/replacing it.

The problem is that my PS2 is relatively new (1 year, without much use) and my friend can load these backups in his PS2 without any problem.
it's very frustrating
btw, I'm using SwapMagic CD 3.0

I really can't remember which brand is. But why can he load these backups and I can't? Out of 4 he lent me, only one loads.

Different PS2 versions read burned media differently. Verbatim media seems to work pretty well for most PS2 versions.

ok, in fact his PS2 is much older than mine. so, your sugestion would be for me to copy his backups to a different media, preferably verbatim? btw, what about TDK media?

Verbatim would be my first recommendation, I've had limited success with TDK but you'll probably have to sample a few brands until you find one that work well for you.

Alot of PS2's seem to have a problem reading CDR's, it's something to do with laser alignment. Try standing it on its side and see if that improves things.
