Hi I got a big prob, my dvd burner thinks it's a cd when i put the dvd + r disc in. I tried to update the firmware but it didn'w work. I have managed to burn dvd +rw discs before I updated the firmware but I haven't tried after. Plz someone help me, I really need to burn dvd discs, if this is any help, this is what the burner sais :
Uninstalling the drive through Device Manager might do the trick :)
Go to Device Manager >
Expand the tree for DVD/CD ROM Drives >
Find the drive in question, right click it and go to Properties >
Under the Driver tab, select Uninstall then OK.
Now reboot and Windows should detect and reinstall the drive.
If this doesn't help try the same steps as above except expand the tree for IDE ATA/ATA Controllers and uninstall either the Primary or Secondary controller depending on which one the drive in question is attatched to. Nero Info Tool can tell you which chain the drive is on under the Configuration tab.
My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

My burning prog: Nero, have also tried cheetah but it didn't work either.
I did as you told and uninstalled but it didn't work. Althoug I didn't manage to performe the second thing you told me to do. If you really think that that is the problem please describe it a bit easier. Unfortunately I don't don't think that it will solve my problems so if you got any otther ideas, I would be very happy, thx
I also thought of another thing, I'm using dvd +r and it has always wored with dvd +rw, but could it be so that I have to have dvd -r discs?
My dvd burner is a philips and I always thought that they only make burners for dvd +r discs, but maybe?
and also the burners name is :
Philips DVD+RW-D01
I'll try with a -r but I doubt it...
