After using rempeg to shrink the video, I remux it using ifoedit. The problem is that in the resulting vob files, there is always a bit of video stutter, sometimes subtle, sometimes not. I've analyzed the resulting file in slow motion to see what happens. Basically at seemingly random points (although more often around scene changes and high-speed movement), the video will 'freeze' for a few frames, and then 'speed up' to catch up. This problem is *not* in the rempeg'd .m2v--it only occurs in the output after ifoedit remuxes. The audio is always intact. I've this happen nearly every time, sometimes worse than others. I found that if you strip the ac3 stream, I can use the new dvd author function in the new beta version of ifoedit; where you pick the separate m2v and ac3 files and it merges them, as opposed to the remux function which just remuxes in a compressed m2v file into the original vob. The resulting the video is fine (no stutter), but this dvd author function isn't 100% yet, since most of the time Nero can't burn the files that ifoedit's dvd author creates. So, I'm forced to use remux and get files with stutter, or dvd author and get files which I can't burn. IfoEdit is so widely used, and I have this problem on every machine I tested it on, I figure others must see it too.

I have the same problem... I used TMPGenc to shrink the DVD- but my version of ifoedit produces the same problem when I use it to "author the DVD" or remix the audio and video. If I use TMPGenc to remix the *.MV2 and the *.AC3 I get a *.mpg file (mpeg2) that looks fine and sounds fine when I play it in PowerDVD. I have copy of Maestro (ver.2.9) but it seems to be missing codecs and won't access *.mpg files. I don't have an answer but it is frustrating to spend so much time to create these MPG's and to get hung on that last step MPG's to VOB's. I have found ifoedit to be very useful though- esp. to split movies to 2 disks. I have version0.95 I think that's the newest one. MPG to VOB ?

Thanks for raining on my parade. I just discovered the remux function, and thought it was just the ticket, since it retains the original audio tracks and chapter lists. But you're right. Every now then there is noticable stutter, and now that I'm aware of them, I find them unbearable.

The main problem with the IFOEdit Authoring feature is that the Chapter information on shrunk files is off---the sector assignment to cells seems to be based on the orginal Video track. Also, the AB repeat function repeats something else from what was selected...Is there anyway to fix this? I have no problem burning them on my Sony DR110 (+RW).
