I have a NEC-3500AG in an external case hooked up to my laptop with a firewire cable. Can i just update the firware like a normal drive? The only reason i ask is because in the readme for the 2.18 firware it says something about external firewire drives. TIA

i ended up just flashing my external firewire drive with the new firmware and it was a success if anyone wanted to know...
