Can anyone describe setting up the 37" Sceptre LCD with a surround sound system?
Do you have to take off the supplied speakers? What kind of sound outputs did you use.
Any help with setting up a surround sound system on this would be greatly appreciated.
I don't have the 37" Sceptre yet but I've almost convinced my wife and want to have everything ready. Thanks!

Received my 42" LCD 2 weeks ago, went to best buy to buy the wall mount $249.00 too much so we stopped at the costco store and they had one for $89.00 so we picked it up placed it over the fireplace and all is well. We love it.
Good Luck

I emailed Sceptre about a wall mount and they told me that a company named Ergotron made compatible wall mounts. The url is http://www.ergotron.com. Ergotron confirm the compatibility on their website. I really think their products look great. And I purchased the low profile wall mount for $66.35 for a online store called TheNerds.net

Where's my 42" TV? Notified shipped on 3/24 - haven't heard anything since. No tracking information. Wondering how others are making out. Saw both good and bad reports. Can anyone give an update on their experience? Thanks.

I am choosing between 2 panasonic plasma TV's. The TH-42PX60U and the other EDTV 42inch plasma. Now I come across this monitor http://www.sceptre.com/Products/LCD/Specifications/spec_X42GV-Naga.htm
Now this LCD seems to be a 3rd rate product since they are selling it at Target and Costco( Not meaning its a bad product though) Is this a better TV then the panasonic listed above?

I bought a 37" Sceptre LCD from costco online that I am happy with. However, when the DirecTV guy came by to install new HD tuner and dish, he noticed that Sceptre was not one of the brands in the list. He said that the only drawback would be that I wouldn't be able to use the volume control on the DirecTV remote, and would have to use the Sceptre remote. Ok. Well, I called Sceptre and they said to use one of 3 Sony codes to complete the transfer. (Directv sent me a step-by-step plan showing how to do this). I tried, but could not effect the change. Anyone else have this problem?

I have a Dish remote and have tried all of the Sony codes (including the codes for receivers, DVR's, and other all Sony devices listed in the Dish remote manual), none will operate the Sceptre Volume (the most important function in my opinion).
I emailed Sceptre with this information and they suggested that I use the Sony codes. (Not much <no> help.)
Has any one been able to get the Dish/DTV remote to operate the Sceptre Volume. This is a major drawback.
Thanks

I have the Sceptre 37" and I am now using the Logitech Harmony remotes from eCost.com. They are perfect for Dish, Direct TV or any other Cable or Sat setup. I am also using it to control my Home Theater PC as well.

I'm two weeks in with the Sceptre x37 and now the trouble begins. Had some juddering one day, then my TWCNY HD-DVR cable box rebooted itself. Then no problem for a day. Now the X37 will receive any signal from any source (mac mini, DVD player, HD-DVR cable box) BUT, 5 to 10 minutes later, the lamp seems to go out, the videoframe crunches horizontally and vertically while a clicking sound inside the X37 rattles on. No responce from the remote except for the power key to turn it off. Trying to reach Tech support at sceptre today at noon. I am in New York.
I have read numerous pages of this thread and have found nothing like what I am experiencing, beyond the mention of "juddering". Anyone with a similar failing?

HOLY COW!!! That sounds rather ominous. So, turning the unit off, unplugging it for a while, and re-starting it NOT help? Just curious.
I may just hang on to my 500 pound Sony 34" XBR for a bit longer then.

Help!!! I just received my 42" Sceptre from Costco. I have RCN cable and have ordered the HD tuner box RCN requires to receive HDTV. The standard definition TV hooked up to my analog cable box is horrible and unwatchable. XBOX looks great and DVD's are ok. Will the RCN HDtuner solve my problems and will analog channels not in HD come in better through the HD tuner than they do now?

This may be a dumb question, but I am considering the 37" Sceptre for my primary computer monitor. Since I haven't seen one I'm not sure if it is good enough for that, as I'm worried about the detail and quality of high-end computer graphics and CAD programs (dot pitch). The monitor would sit between 2 and 3 feet from my face. Can someone shed some light on this subject?
Thanks!

You've got to be kidding. placing a 37" LCD monitor 2 or 3 feet away?!?! Not planning on using your eyes for very much longer?
The Sceptre is said to have one of the best "pitches" around. But, for CAD and other extremely precise drawing programs, still nothing beats a CRT with super fine dot-pitch. And, its cheaper too.

It was actually recommended by a computer company that sells high-end gaming and CAD computers. Thats why I wanted to ask the question, as they say it is similar to the apple cinema 30" display and the dell 30" LCD display. The Sceptre has lower resolution, but those 30" LCD computer monitors are priced at $2200 and $2500.

I bought my Sceptre with my Amex card. If you are buying, make sure you are protected by using your Amex, and closely examining the return policy of the online store you purchase from. My Sceptre x37 went bad within 10 days and no one stepped up. The online store (pcprogress) said 'we wash our hands of it, the moment you bought it'; then, Sceptre wouldn't pay for shipping back to them for service. So, I just said, I want my money back, and that's where Amex comes in. Its called a billing dispute. Just a heads up.
The sad part is, it worked perfectly for 5 days, just as I had envisioned, then it all went to hell. Another point: everyone wants what they buy to work, so I wonder at how many folks are out there who have had the same experience I have had and have chosen not been heard here. Yeah, its painful and time consuming to buy a lemon, but warn your fellow man!

Got the 42 Sceptre. I don't think my remote is working. If it was working would a red light on the end come on when I pressed a button?
I am not a TV tech or electronic type of person - just someone who can't figure out how to get the remote to work. Please help. thank you.

There is no visible red light from the end of Infra-Red remotes. The light is Infra-Red. It is in the frequency that our eyes are unable to see. Only way to make sure your remote is working is to press the buttons and see if something happens to your TV. Press the power button while pointing the remote at the TV. Does TV turn off or on? If not, try another set of new batteries and then try the power button again. Is there a slider switch on the remote? Some remotes are able to control more than one media device like DVD, VCR and the TV. If the slider switch is located on a device other than the TV, then the pressing the power button will do nothing to the TV.

I would stay away from buying Sceptre TV's. I purchased a 37" one from Costco and when I hooked up the tv to my hd directv box via the hdmi cable the picture would go in and out, even when I tried to use the computer port it would not sinc up to the tv and could not use it at all. I called Sceptre tech line and you have to wait a day for them to call you back, I must have talked to the same woman 3 times and I knew more about the tv then she did. Good thing that I bought it locally at Costco and took it back to them and purchased a Vizio 37" tv and it has had no problems at all, and it was $500 less than the Sceptre. I have a feeling that if you purchase a newer 1080p model of tv then you might be having problems because the manufactures of the tv's don't check them out with everything (directv hd, computer input). Just my opinion

Are you saying that you bought an early version then? Or was your Sceptre a later version?
Did Sceptre not offer to fix your tv? What was the suggested problem that Sceptre thought casused your tv's problems?

I just got an email advertising 37" Sceptre for $999 from Costco. I did some checking and it gave good reviews for a model with 1920 x 1080 resolution. When I went back to Costco ad, it had 1366 x 768 on the specs for the resolution. So I guess Costco is trying to get rid of lower quality ones by giving $500 off coupon. I think I'll wait and maybe get the x 1080 resolution one. What do you think?

The support from Sceptre was not the greatest. When you call them they don't get back to you until the next day and when they do the woman on the phone does not know much and same with the email system. They just refer me to the Directv box that I had. The unit was brand new and shipped from the Costco warehouse. I have since taken the unit back and purchased a Vizio 37" tv which I have had not one issue with and not a call to their support desk. My HDMI and computer hookups work great. I even think that the picture is better with the Vizio than with the Sceptre. Sceptre did not even have a fix for the problem and would not even offer to take a look at it and they are based 30 miles from where I live. The remote sucks big time as it is not a learning one and they don't have the codes for it anywhere.

bayridge, I have had my 37" 1080p Sceptre for about a year and am very pleased with the exceptional picture quality. I subscribe to Dish Network HD, and have an upconverting Denon DVD player. For my needs, I could not ask for a better picture.
