I'm on windows ME got amadron thingy 300 odd ram 40g hard drive. Well thats all I know.
My problem is I need an anti virus and firewall every time I load in Macafee virus scan profesional with spam and firewall my computer just freezes solid i'v got to prees the reboot button on front of towere and even then it dont load right untill I switch it off completly at back via the main power switch
Can you recomend a safe firewall and anti virus for my computer. I tried restore but that didnt work either.
Also what can I do if I keep getting no dial tone in my newly installed broadband. I can get on line but always when I want One day its fine next tempremantal. Its thospson speed touch if thats any help on virgin broadband 17.99 a month

Thanks I did thia But I have a new prob.. I'm Missing a file somehow. Message reads on start up Sortcut for "mywebsearch e-mail plugin.ink" cannot be found it is on file somewhere or on disc.
Then it says click ok. Is this serious?? also I live in the middle of nowere and have loads o rubbish on my hard drive I'v tried deleting it but not all of it will go away as i'm not near anyone who can help me how do I format my hard drive and what step by step things do I need to do and is it easy to reinstall windows once i've done this? I cant find a guide anywhere?

remove mywebsearch email thru add/remove programs in control panel, doubt you need it as possible spyware. cleanout your windows cookies, temp, temporary internet folders. also doubleclick temporary internet folder & you'll see content.ie5, delete that also to. goto programs/accessories/system tools & send to desktop disk cleanup, scandisk & disk defragmenter. than do disk cleanup c:drive, than run avg7, than ad-aware se, than scandisk & then defrag & do that at least once a week. should have asked you first but what windows are you using & what are your computer specs

Im on windows ME thanks for your help i'll do all that as my computer keeps crashing. Even on start upit sometimes well more often than not... wont load up properly it justs stops loading in windows. I might not have enough ram memory i'v got 300 odd do you think this might be my problem??

see if safemode has same problem or not. possible ram problem, try 1 stick at a time in normal mode to see if stops or not
