Does anyone have one..its a VCR/DVD Recorder.
We like it,except when it comes to trying to use DVD-R
to record..no matter what kind we get we keep getting this error message.."playback feature may not be
available on this disc". We bought it from Best Buy..went back and no one seems to know why they wont work.
It loves DVD-RW..but we want to back up our VHS tapes..and going the DVD-RW way will cost a lot.
I tried to take a DVD-RW that we put a movie on,from tv
and then put it in my pc..but it wont deal with the file
it comes up with..DVD_RTAV..thanks for any input!

I have the same problem. So I called SHarp and they told me that the DVD's have to be DVD-R not DVD+R, 4.7 Gb and 4x speed. This recorder can not play anything more than a 4x DVD-R.

Right..we only used DVD-R...and DVD-RW...we found for the
DVD-R..it only worked with Verbatim. With DVD-RW..its not as fussy..but we found Fuji the best. And yeah..like I said 4x. We dont have any trouble now its a nice Recoder.

I've been able to record with both SONY and Memorex DVD-Rs. The key is the recording speed. The burner will work with only 4X or less.

Yup I just got it to work. I bought it as an open item and I guess the reason they returned it was cause they didn't know there was a piece of paper stuck in the DVD drive itself. So now all works well and I'm using TDK DVD-R's.

The recorder would only take DVD-R that would only go up to 4x speed..the ones that said up to 8x ..no matter what he did it wouldnt work. Verbatim works great..no problem.
I can use the Sonys in my pc..no problem..memorex..forget it..too many coasters. His recorder wont read the memorex
even if I had a good one..only Sony,Fuji and verbatim.
Our stores didnt have the TDKs..so we havent tried those.
Some times the memorex DVD-RW will work.

I just purchased the Sharp DV-RW340U. I have no problem whatsoever with -RW/-R. The speed must be set to no higher than EP or else one cannot view it on other players.
What I have not been able to figure out is how to record two VHS tapes into one DVD. Pausing, replacing tape and continuing. Since I'm dubbing, once the tape ends it won't pause. What am I doing wrong?
