Hello. I searched but couldn't find an answer.

Does anyone know if it's possible to split a dual layer DVD into two single layer DVDR's "on-the-fly?" (without first copying to hard drive) I'm not trying to re-encode/compress/or strip out any data.

I know a few programs like Nero and CloneDVD will do on-the-fly burns if the DVDR disk has enough space but so far I haven't been able to find a way to split up the two layers of a DVD-9 onto two DVD-5's on-the-fly. (ie: burn layer 1 on-the-fly, then pause and swap a new blank DVD to continue burning layer 2)

Oh and, yes, I'm aware it's safer to copy to the hard drive first, and yes I have two DVD drives on seperate IDE channels. I want to copy on the fly because I have less than 9 gigs of hard drive space left.

Many thanks,
-Shaun

Think you may be dreaming - do not believe it is possible.

Time/money would be better spent on a larger hard drive.
