Hello everyone!
There is a lot of talk about various P2P networks and applications, some of which stradle more than one network.
There does not seem a "newbies" area for this topic and, even if there was, I would still like to see the experts answer this one:
(Keeping in mind factors such as number of users, viruses, ease of use, support, etc)
Which P2P network is the best and why do you consider it so?! Same question, but for P2P network application(s).
Thanks!

Icarbutt... I see you seem to be in the UK, which is good, do you have an email address at which you can be reached?!
How come edonkey?
ag22... I have used neither. Are there guides how? If so, can you give me some links?!
If I was, god forbid, someone who wanted to download a movie, would they be the best place to look? Again, how?

You are wrong about Bittorrent being dead. Check out these sites:
Torrent Sites : All links below were verified to be working on 1/08/2005
Warning: Some of the following links may contain adult content.
Bi-torrent http://www.bi-torrent.com Suprnova Mirror site - still up and running - you can find everything here except adult pr0n.
TorrentSpy http://www.torrentspy.com Excellent site which searches for torrents at many different torrent sites.
Indie Torrents http://indietorrents.com Obscure music galore, RIAA releases not allowed.
Piano Sheets http://www.pianosheets.org/ This tracker specialises in transcriptions and arrangements made by various pianists around the world.
Youceff Torrents http://torrent.youceff.com One of the big ones. Lots of stuff here. - torrents gone but Youceff is back up as a clearinghouse of p2p information.
FileSoup http://www.filesoup.com/ A great torrent related community. If you want to host your own tracker, this is a great place to start learning. Filesoup used to be a huge torrent site with everything but now the torrents are legal stuff, freeware, opensource, legal music, etc. and pr0n.
Lokitorrent http://www.lokitorrent.com/ Another of the big boys. Great site, lots of stuff.
Torrentstop http://www.torrentstop.com/ No login mirror of torrents available on Lokitorrent
Mufftorrent http://www.mufftorrent.com pr0n sister site of Lokitorrents.
Empornium http://empornium.us Excellent pr0n torrent site.
TorrentBits http://www.torrentbits.org/ TorrentBits has been around for a while. All kinds of stuff here.
MVGroup http://www.mvgroup.org/ Documentaries. Lots of them.
Suprnova http://www.suprnova.org The biggest and oldest torrent dump site around. Forums still up but torrents are gone - they are currently about to launch a new p2p technology called eXeem.

pcss - Thanks for the info. I haven't read all of your blurb yet, but I am hoping there are some good tracker links there.
daddyo - Ill check out Azureus. Do you have a link to where you believe the main "eXeem" action to be?!

Something else...
I have been hearing about:
XoloX and eXeem
How do they stack up against other technologies?!
Do you still reckon bittorrents are better?!
If so, can you provide a link to your favourite guide?!
Do you believe IRC is the best way to find them?
Again... please post a link to your favourite IRC guide, as I have never used IRC.

Ares is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone!
I have a low grade broadband connection (256) and files come through really smoothly.
I anticipate soon upgrading to 512 or 1MB and it should be really good then.
Once you know what to look for (dimensions, length of time, suffixes, etc), it's ease of use is great.
Oh... and I haven't been attacked by a thing while using it... as I remember Limewire messed me up for a while!
Good call - spread the word of Ares!

NO EXEEM
I downloaded and installed exeem then tried to download something but no results turned up and then when i tried to reboot my computer I could no longer get into windows. I asked a computer professional and he told me windows crashed. I had to restore my whole system. Later I looked into Exeem and found that earlier distros. had spyware built in. Me I will never trust it again.
I have been using Limewire for a long time now and Ive never had any problems. Great Program
Hope this helps

Must be thinking of another Limewire or must have received it from a clean source, as it's renowned for being dirty! Ares is doing well. Three perfect rips downloaded on a 256 connection and all is good :)

Ares is amazing " butwhen I checked " with Ad-Aware after using it I had 22 Malware confirmations I had to get rid of.
I have Zonealarm and Norton 2005 and still they got through.
I had just checked prior to using Ares to search around for a file I needed, and my system was clean!.
Hopefully someone can fix Shareaza their prior version worked just great with fantastic hits.
So for now Ill keep looking for a psp I can use with out cleaning up afterward.
(meagain)
Feb 14
downloaded a new copy of Ares and installed without Navhelper.
Works Ok..thx for the Hint.

I downloaded the Beta Testing version of eXeem and it seems to work very good. I would recommend checking it out for yourself.

Your copy of Ares must have been contaminated, rather than the application itself... as mine has been no problem and revealed no anomolies!

Could be that. The download guide I read said it would be a world of pain, so I left it and have had no problems.
