WTF! Sony 510A Burning Great....Then Boom Problems?

Hi,

I have been backing up dvd's for a couple of years now with my Sony 510A. I used various brands of media and they all worked great on all my dvd players until recently. Now all of the sudden my dvd's will only work on 1 of the 4 that they used to play fine on. I have updated my firmware, tried reinstalling DVD shrink, Record Now and still nothing. I even did a system restore on my computer in case there was something wrong there. The older Dvd's will still play on the players that won't play the new ones. On the 8x Dvd's I get an error message the minute it tries to burn so I am assuming that it will not burn on these Dvd's even at the 4x speed. So I dig out some 2.4 and 4x dvd's and they seem to burn fine but the minute I put them in the players I get a disc error messge.

Does anyone know what the hell is going on here before I throw the damn thing away and get a new one. For the price of new ones these days, I would be better off than the tons of coasters that I am getting until this is fixed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
