DVD Recorder writing speed

I have an LG DVD recording cable of writing 8 speed. THe disc that I use is only 4 speed. But when I write, the program calculates that the DVd will be finished within 15 minutes and writes supposedly at 4 speed, but it take about 35 to 40 minutes. System P4, Win 2000. Is there any setting I must make. The software that I use are DVDShrink, and Nero.
