I am tryin to make mpeg2 to burn onto DVD from avi files as source. I notice (using Gspot) that the framerate of the avi is 23.967 but the framerate in the template in TMPGenc for DVD PAL is 25 and for NTSC its 29.96. I think this is why the audio is drifting out of sync a good while into the movie. How can I make the Mpeg2 so that its DVD compliant but keeping the framerate at 23.967? Can any1 help me with this please?

In TMPGEnc's Settings > Advanced tab, select the checkbox that says 3:2 Pulldown. It telecines the material (adds the dupe frames to make it NTSC-compatible).

thank you for replying to my post. Would this setting be checked for both NTSC and PAL or just NTSC??

Just NTSC. PAL movies are made differently -- to be exact, PAL movies are simply just played 2% faster than the original (not kidding -- if you live in PAL country, every single TV show and movie you've ever seen in your life on TV has been played back 2% faster than it should be).

yes I live in a PAL country (UK), Im unsure of whether my Standalone DVD player does both NTSC and PAL as ive never tried or owned an NTSC DVD.If it does then hopefully this problem im having is sorted, but if it doesnt would you mind explaining to me how I could take the avi (23.967) and make it into the mpeg2 keeping the framerate the same so I dont lose audio sync 3/4 way thro the movie? thanks for you time boss man :)

OK I made the conversion from AVI to Mpeg2, I used the DVD NTSC template in TMPGenc and changed the framerate to 23.967.Then I checked the 3:2 pull down option, then ran it.Upon completion it has made me a DVD compliant Mpeg2 that I can author with no problem, thats cool ;) but.......The audio is still out of sync. The AVI itself is fine and the sync is perfect but somewhere along the line its drifting out to an unwatchable rate, any suggestions please? thanks
