It's one chassis with an 80 GB TiVo and DVD player in one box, and claims to play a wide range of stuff. Wider than most home players, at least. It has stereo RCA outputs, but no 5- or 6- channel line-level outs. It has the standard coax and TOSLINK digi outs.
My question about this box is if it will play high-resolution (i.e., 24-bit and / or 48khz+) audio files burnt to DVD... I do not have DiscWelder or any other authoring package yet, and would like to figure out if my machine will play any high-res audio formats before I sink some dough into mastering/recording software. What can I use to burn 24/48k or 24/96k to DVD for my first hi-res listening experience, if anything?
On another note, I've also got some live music audio shows mastered (not pro releases - Grateful Dead shows mastered by 'amateurs') to DTS 5.1, and wonder if they'll play on this thing without outboard decoding. I.e., can I slap a DTS disc in the machine and play it in 2 ch stereo without an external step, or do I have to decode it? I'd test it, but have heard I can do some hefty damage to a stereo system playing DTS without decoding it...
My first post here - any help and/or newbie advice appreciated. Thanks for reading -
