Hello. any info on this is greatly appreciated. i have installed the magic KX chip in my slimPS2 and its working fine to play burnt games and original games. I cannot get it to read DVD movies, Ive tried it on power up, reboot and let it start up then put the disk in. Just keeps taking my to the prompt to selec the CD or the memory card. it sees the CD but it will not play. it looks like it going to load then just takes you back to that screen again.

try one of these methods (they are for other magic 5 chips, but might work with yours):

PS1 Games and DVD movies:
- Switch on the PS2 to Standby (Red light).
- Press and hold Eject for at least 2 seconds to open the disc tray.
- Insert the PS1 game or DVD movie into the disc tray and press Eject to close the tray.
- You can also tap Reset and the PS2 will remain in PS1 mode and boot the game.

OR

For PS1 games & DVD Movies, power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the blue EJECT light comes on; then release RESET and the disk will boot.

I am using a slim PS2 it doesn't have a CD tray. it the new ones. they pop up the power puttin is the reset button. light is either red or green. tap it and it resets. hold it and it turns off. not sure this is going to work as the reset just opens the top door.

China-magic.com does not have an installation diagram for the PSTwo. Where did you connect the Reset point on the Magic V to?

reset point? these are not the same as the old PS2's
this is the wiring diagram i used from chipmod.ca, same place i bought it from.

this is the one specific for the magic KV slim chip for the slim PS2. the chip info says its not supposed to effect the DVD playback but the chip has to be one for it to work so i don't understand that.

PSTwo installations are not officially supported by the maker of the modchip. According to the diagram you linked to, you're supposed to hold reset for 1 sec in order to boot the Magic V chip into PS1 and DVD playback mode. Have you tried that already?
