LITE ON SOHW 1633S ---HELP

I got this burner for Christmas and all was well until a couple days ago. For some odd reason all the audio is a little distorted. It still burns fine and sounds fine in my DVD player downstairs. But the DVD PLAYER Lite On SOHW 1633S sounds distorted on playback. Even dvds that are new from BEST BUY sound distorted. Any help would be appreciated.

what media is recommended for drive & are you using it??

It will take all media. I am using -R right now and have been since I got it. It worked fine for a month and then this started happening.

try cleaning the laser lens to see if fixes problem

The way I read your post it says it sounds distorted while playing DVD's on your computer. If this is the case try different playback software or check your settings, if its burning fine but not playing fine I wouldn't think that laser would be the problem, maybe if it was the other way around.

I already cleaned the laser with Scotch ten brush system. Everything sounds the same. If I use my cd rom the music on cd's sounds fine. If I use the hard drive and playback a downloaded movie it sounds fine. The only time I get the distortion is when I play a dvd.

the read head might be slightly out of alignment. can you try burner in another computer to see if problem follows or stops
