I need to buy a new burner. I have narrowed it down to 2 choices but cannot decide between the two. My primary use is backing up movies with DVDshrink or CloneDVD2.
Can't go wrong with either! My new Sony Viao came with Pioneer DVR-108; no complaints other than it does not support Booktype resetting for DVD+Rs. Also these drives may require 80 wire, 40 pin cables rather than standard 40 wire, 40 pin type, to ensure best performance.
My previous burner was a NEC 1300, still going strong after 2 years or service. New models do not require special cable. Have never heard a NEC complaint.
you can't buy a better burner then the nec3520. you can buy a burner that is just as good, like the new pioneer or plextor models, but if the quality is the same, what else is there to base your decision on? How about price? At newegg the nec is about $20 less then the pioneer. For me, that makes it an easy decision.
I just got my NEC 3520A two days ago from New Egg and I love it. Some people say it is noisy, but I cant even hear it when its burning, my DVD Rom makes more noise than anything. I have already burned 50 movies using DVD Shrink and Nero 6.3 Ultra. Havent had a single coaster and I use Memorex DVD+r 8x media, but Im waiting on my TY Media to get here. I gotta say this is a uber nice burner and all my friends love it and wish they had one. You cant beat the price. I dont know how they can sell it so cheap. Im thinking of ordering another one to put in my other pc. Hope that helps GET THIS BURNER YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!
