Hey guys:
My brother is going over seas, and he just found out he's going to want a laptop, he doesn't have time to shop, and i don't know much about them.

How good of specs should I expect to be able to get for under $2,000?

He wants a dvd burner, firewire, wireless ethernet....and other than that, neither of us know much about lap tops. if you guys can lend some expertise it'd be appreciated.

you can custom build yours at mwave.com for way cheaper and better parts than a name brand.
