I have a toshiba A65 laptop and it doesnt have a COM port (DB9).And i'm kinda mechanc and need to use a scan tool and it has a 9 pin connector so ibought a converter 9 pin to 25 from radioshack but it seems it wont work is there any wat to work this a software or some thing .and the scantool is not broken coz i used a couple of other equipment that has a DB9 connector and they didnt work eaither pluse i connected them to anothe computer with a com ort and worked perfectly

that adapter you got there is 2 different versions in the internal wiring from the 25pin to the 9 pin, so you might have 1 of the 2 versions. i make my own adapters when needed so that is how i know
