Hi,

System
PS2 version 7
Swap Magic V3.3
Flip Top
Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets (CD disc)

I was backing up some of my PS2 games using fliptop and swap magic 3.3 I backed up GTA san andreas using dvd decryptor without problem (a DVD game)

I tried to backup my first CD game. I used Nero (dvd decryptor only works on DVDs) to burn two copies. First at Max burn speed approx 40x and the second at minimum speed approx 4x. Each was read as an invalid PS2 disc after swap. I then put in the original using the swap technique and it also reads as an invalid PS2 disc.

Do I need to use some CDLoader type utility to make Harry Potter, Chamber of secrets work? The swapmagicfix page seems to mention a fix if using swap magic 2.0 I have the latest version swap magic 3.3 I will clean the laser tonight and test again but the original Harry Potter does work fine without swapping so any help would be appreciated

As a side note, will Nero start smart with Nero OEM 6.6, NeroVision Express 3 SE be good enough to burn the CDs? I have CDrwin on one of my older computers but it wont recognize any drives on my new computer (possibly because I didn't let it install ASPI drivers on my XP machine fearing it would mess up Nero, powerdvd, or dvd decryptor somehow). I have not used Nero to burn any DVD PS2 games yet since DVD decryptor worked great so far.

Thanks

Cheers,

Kai

When booting this with Swap Magic have you tried a 'Special Boot'(hitting '[]' instead of 'X') instead of just the normal 'Load Program'?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Further testing is grim so far :(

PS2 wont recognize the swap magic v3.3 CD as a PS2 disc anymore so I can't do the alternate boot.
PS2 doesn't recognize the original Harry Potter as a PS2 disc either. I put in Crazy Taxi and that PS2 CD still loads ok but the PS2 makes a lot more noise now spinning up titles (i thought that would be from noise leaking around the flip top and would be normal)

I did a preliminary wipe of the lens with no change. I will read up on the proper way to clean the lens. I wonder if reading swap discs or dvd-r cdr discs strains the PS2 so as to throw it out of alignment? It certainly gets noisy and sounds like its struggling to read the correct tracks.

DVD games still work fine. Do you think it would be possible to burn the original Harry Potter CD to hard drive and then from Hard drive to DVD? I have Nero, dvd decryptor. I wonder if I could have a faulty swap magic for CD but it did load up fine initially. It is failing to load now but so is Harry Potter original CD (Crazy Taxi loads fine)

Well any other ideas appreciated. Thanks

Cheers,

Kai
