If your mob has audio digital out, is the sound coming out of the sata or ide connection pure?Which ones better?

depends on motherboard as some name brand computers don't have an audio cable just power & data

It is the same Digital Audio, IDE or SATA, no difference.
The little internal cable from optical drive to audio in (on soundcard or mobo) is Analog.
Between approx 1997-2002 a lot of games had CD-audio tracks on the game disc.
Even if a strong, modern PC can do Digital Audio, you will not get your music with these games unless the analog cable is in place.
Other than that, for CD playback these days it is useless - everyone uses digital :-)
If your mobo has audio digital out, this signal can then be sent to your compatible amplifier or reciever in digital format.
That means it is practically immune to any interference, whether EMR or RFI, and will arrive at the amp pure and in good shape.
