If you need help ripping the newer movies (Grudge, Forgotten, Ray, Saw) then go to this site and it will tell you how to successfully back up the newer movies using DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink.

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/ripping.html

Also usually after backing up a newer movie you notice that there is about 5 min of black screen at the beginning of the back up and you have to fast forward to get to the movie. ANWAYS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM just set the start and end times. For example reauthor the backed up file and set the Start Time to chapter 2 or 3 depending on the movie and then preview it till the black screen is gone and then burn and your all done. I FELT LIKE I HAD TO POST THIS MESSAGE CAUSE THE FORUM IS BEING OVERRUN BY NEW MOVIE QUESTIONS AND THIS IS THE SOLUTION TO ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH NEWER MOVIES!

I have done all the newer movies with Decrypter, Shrink or Nero Recode2 with no problems.People need to use the Search Feature instead of asking the same questions over and over.

I agree that they should use the search function, or at least view the List of all updated threads. It's a quick way to browse the most recent threads in the last 24 hours.

If there are no similar/related threads in the last 24 hours, I give them a lil slack ... because as you all know the forum search (google right now) isn't the best. Soon the forum will get the old search function back, and it will be much easier to find related threads.

I thought the whole problem with the newer movies is the new encryption and you needed AnyDVD for it? My trial ran out and if i can just use DVD Decrypter than i will just do that. Are you sure about the decrypter process ?

Yeah AnyDVD is worthless. Why pay for something that you can get for free. DVD DECRYPTOR AND DVD Shrink is all you need and get the best results!

worthless is a poor assessment of AnyDVD. i will admit that currently you can get away with not using it 90-95% of the time simply using shrink/decrypter or any other number of ripper/encoders - BUT AnyDVD is a program that is supported by paying users of the software, therefore they have the incentive and $resources$ to continually be a step ahead of the curve (ie - new Arcos protection). not that there won't be an update to other programs to do the same eventually, but AnyDVD will give you the most up to date ways to beat the copy protection schemes that they throw at us.

definitely not worthless, just a tool that is not free. a mere $40 that can save a lot of heartache and provide a full-version copy reliably any day of the week.

I have not needed AnyDVD as of yet and always make a donation when a new version of DVD Decrypter comes out so LIGHTNING UK! can keep up his work. From what I read the updates for AnyDVD are only good for one year then you have to PAY AGAIN! That is the only thing that has kept me away.Maybe someday I will give it a try.

another great trait of the software from SlySoft! they stay ahead of the cracks that float around on the 'net quite freqently. pay for good software - we all benefit from that exponentially.

i can't wait for the day that they can bury a loop into the software that exposes individuals that try to "hack" the software in any way and consequently forces them to pay for the software by threatening legal problems. the group that created the Mail2Pop software has been using this trick of late.

i have read a lot of useful stuff on here, but i too havn't had a need to buy/try AnyDVD. Or anything other than DVD Shrink & dvd decryptor yet. However i do agree that way too many peepl out there go to the trouble of joining a forum/newsgroup or whatever , but son't do basic stuff like search those very forums/newgroups for answers. I'm a unix admin and thrive on forums etc and absorb far more info than i am able to posgt for others, BUT i spend a lot of time searching for answers, NOT filling up forums with 1000 of the same question. Mild rant over :)

When the movie (The Grudge), correction, RE2 came out, AnyDVD worked fine but it took a .psl file patch to get DVD Decrypter to work. Now the new DVD Decrypter works fine without such a patch. No one has to purchase AnyDVD to burn dvd's. A couple of advantages are the time of the burn, for example doing the Grudge with DVD Decrypter, Shrink and Nero6 took 62 minutes at 8x and using AnyDVD in the background with Shrink took 50 minutes. AnyDVD is usually already updated before a new movie is out with encpt problems. Wait a day in here and most all other progs like DVD Decrypter will be up to date or have a patch as well. It's just a matter of convenience and choice.

That's a bit rich for someone who uses a forum dedicated to "hack" DVD protection, and consequently not making people pay for DVD copies.

The new version of Decryptor was out before THE GRUDGE, unless you got it real early or something. I backed that movie up as soon as it was released on DVD just fine with Decryptor.

DVD Decrypter, Current version: 3.5.2.0 Released: 5th January 2005 That is when the fix took place with DVD Decrypter.

I meant RE2 needing the .psl, not the Grudge. But other then that, nothing changed about my comments. The Grudge is still an example of burn time comparisons by using DVD Decrypter and also AnyDVD.

yes RE2 did need the so called patch, so I guess that is one movie where AnyDVD was helpful, but even then you didnt really need it.

This thread has gotten ridiculous.

Like DVD Decrypter? USE IT!

Like AnyDVD? USE IT!

Trying to argue that one is so much better than the other is pointless.
