cannot burn to 4X media

I am having major problems backing up to 4X media.Running windows xp,a pioneer 106D RW drive.When i use shrink,then nero to burn it just freezes,just after collecting files.The strange thing is i can burn to 2X media no problem.I also have dvd xcopy platinum and can burn with no problems with 4X media.Yes i have uninstalled the software in case it caused any conflicts,and tried different media.Hope someone can help this is frustrating.Thanxs

Nero can be picky about the disks it will write to. I still have a stack of CompUSA branded disks that Nero can't digest. I found the only way to use these disks is by writing ISO files to them with DVDdecrypter.

verb,tdk,ridisc,datawrite its not the media i had same trouble with copytodvd software.
