I have ET I'm trying to fit on one disc. I'm really close to the file size, so what I did is reencode the last VOB file only (VTS_01_5) to make it fit on a dvd. The original file before that (VTS_01_4) is where I have playback problems on my standalone. As I'm playing the movie from the start, it slowly starts having problems at VTS_01_4 with the picture skipping until it gets really bad toward the end of VTS_01_4. Then the reencoded VTS_01_5 works fine. I'm thinking that the difference in the bitrate level is what's throwing it off. Do I have to reencode the entire movie at the same bitrate to prevent playback problems?

If your file size is close to 4.37 then you can reencode the whole movie at say 90%(rempeg) and you won't even notice the difference in quality.

I haven't even tried to reencode only one .VOB, sounds like there would be a problem upon remux, I can't believe that you were able to burn without an error. Very interesting... If it could work, you could put a lot more movies on only one disc.

Yeah, i have never heard of just encoding one single .VOB. I always re-encode the entire movie and then remux it. Interesting thought though, would be much faster to make just one vob smaller, but the encoding ration would have to be drastic I would think.

Maybe I started something new. It didn't come out very nice though. It's like you said. I was trying to reencode just one to save time, but I don't think it quite works that way. It did remux just fine. I went from 900mb to 400 mb without any quality loss whatsoever. Oh well.
