i have a image of a dreamcast game thats in the .bin format, i do not want to download any other burning programs to my computer all i have is nero and i want to know how to burn this image with nero?
can you also tell me what settings to use, not just 'just get image and burn' i need in detail or i will not be able to burn the image properly and will waste a disc. i only have 1 disc left and need to make sure it burns properly.

No help, it just tells you what a bin is, and i know what it is, i just need to burn it to disc. there is also no instructions there on how to burn a dreamcast game in .bin format with nero only. not CDRwin, not Alcohol 120%, just nero only.

Use the Nero burning wizard.
I'm not sure what the exact wording is, but don't choose copy a disc.
You want to create a new disc.
Then, create from an image file. Do Not choose audio or data cd.
Now, select your .cue file that you made when selecting a file to burn. (make sure the cue and bin file are located in the same folder)
That should do it.

o.k so i made the cue sheet, the only option it had was making a cue sheet for p.c is this the right option? (rember this is a dreamcast game)
then after this i go to nero, click on burn image, select cue sheet, when i check info it says 'data mode 1, track no 1' is this correct? if this is so i can go ahead and burn, i just need confirmation from you that it's the right settings.

Hmm, I can only assume that this is correct right now (at work), however it should work fine, but if i could get someone to confirm this for me that would be nice?
I don't want ya to get a coaster if its not necessary. But, if noone's able to confirm this for us right now, i'd suggest trying it atleast, just a cd-r. nickels and dimes.

i've burned the disc but i wont be able to find out that it works yet till i get more CD-Rs later on in the evening. i need to burn a boot disc becasue i think bin files i have to use a boot disc to play them, becasue when i put it in the dreamcast the disc was not recognised.
and speaking of boot discs? do you know how to burn one? this will be the last question. it's for the dreamcast and is called the utopia boot disc cd 1.1 all i know is it's in CDI format. i only have a cdr burner and one tutorial says when you create a new image you have to choose Burn CD and DVD images, but i only have the option. cd image to cd recorder. will this be o.k? thanks for your help so far.

my bad, HUYI, i looked at it more closely and its for older Dreamcast releases. If you want to be burning images the best thing you can do is download Alcohol 120%, i know people will argue with me, but i don't like usinf Nero to burn anything but DVDs. If you use Alcohol all you have to do to burn a Dreamcast image is set it to RAW DAO. Anyways though here's a guide http://www.consolevision.com/members/fackue/tut_basic.shtml that will explain it all better. If that doensnt work the try this. go to www.google.com , type in " burning dreamcast games with nero". I'm sure you'll pop up with all kinds of info.

Ok i read a little more deeply. I have around 50 Dreamcast games burnt so im not speaking out of my ass here. My experiance with all of them is, Nero has NEVER ONCE burnt a working copy of a Dreamcast game. For me at least. You shouldn't need a boot disk for most of the Dreamcast games, as they self boot. But every once in a while you can come across one that doesnt. The boot disk you want it Utopia 1.2 . And to burn a cdi image youll want to use the image burning wizard in Alcohol ( i know you said you dont want to download any more crap, i hear you there, but youll want alcohol for dreamcast games), and burn in RAW DAO at the lowest speed possible, 4x at the most. But if you still want to try Nero with that .bin file heres an idea, mount the image on Neros image drive, then copy it.

Nero does have issues burning Dreamcast games. The only programs that I have found that work are CDRWin and DiscJuggler.

BIN files are native to CDRWin. You will need to create a .cue file to allow CDRWin to burn it. Usually .BIN format does not work for Dreamcast. What game is it anyway?

Personally, I've never heard of a working Saturn emulator for the Dreamcast. You can try it but I'm doubtful that it will work.

The best program to burn dreamcast games is with discjuggler. Sorry if you're disappointed, but Nero was made with ease of use for MOST people.
Most people either wanna archive data, or burn music CDs.
Anyways, I've dealt with your situation before, having just a bin and not a cue with it.
Download this :
http://users.andara.com/~doiron/bin2iso/bin2iso_v1.7.zip
It's a program that will convert a bin file to an ISO. Follow the directions in the package, as it is a command-line program.
Convert to ISO, then burn it with Discjuggler.
In discjuggler, use the wizard and select "Burn image." Point it to your new ISO and push the big start button.
That's the easiest way to get this all done. I've done it several times for my Dreamcast games, and never had a problem.
However, using ANY version of Nero for burning images has usually resulted in failure for me.

thanks for the info, your'e the second poster thats says that nero does not burn dreamcast games :( and that was my last disc aswell, i can't get anymore discs for quite a while, so i can't burn any more dreamcast games right now. and that program you mentioned, do you have to enter complicated stuff to convert it or can you just push 1 button and its done? i hope so. also can anyone tell me how to burn MSF (i think they were MSF) dreamcast files? i got some of those and burned it with disc juggler but the disc would not load. what program do you use to burn these type of files?

I can't tell you anything about discjuggler because it never worked for me. Wasn't compatible with my dvd drives i guess. Which gave it a thumbs down vote from me right away. The reason i'd say Alcohol is the tool for Dreamcast games is because, A. It burns cdi (and almost any other file), flawlesly. And B. the dreamcast images that ive come across that DONT burn right (i.e. nrg,bin files) have ALWAYS worked for me after i mounted them on Alcohols image drive, then made an image of that with Alcohol. I've never needed any other tools to do it. I know you don't want to download anything else but if you dont want to keep burning coasters then try alcohol.

well you know how you feel about discjuggler? well thats how i feel about alcohol, when i installed that nasty program, it decided to mess with my system files, and also decided that it didn't like my current settings, so you know what it did? it decided to put a extra 2 drives on my computer which don't exsist, you can't remove them either until you uninstall alcohol. the program was crap, becasue there was no option to turn these virtual drives off, with this happening i could not burn anything with my cd burner.
and i have never encountered any program that messed with your drives, programs like that you have to avoid at all costs, so now you know why i hate it and give it 2 thumbs down?
