Sony DVD 201E & Imagemixer

I can't edit my mpeg2 images using transitions in Imagemixer. For some reason they just aren't active. So I've tried various other editing softwares, but they all require transfer by Firewire. The Sony DVD 201E camcorder cannot do this. I don't think I'll ever be able to do anything other than a straight copy of recorded images. Has anyone been able to edit their video with software other than Imagemixer.
