Audio distortion in cut mode on NeroVision Express 2

Hi,

I'm using NeroVision Express 2 (boy what a strange user interface!) to reauthor/edit a movie copied from DVD using DVDShrink. As soon as I make a couple of cuts I start to get white noise in place of the audio track. Undo removes the problem. Re-cutting reintroduces it. This is off hard drive, before I burn.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Using Dell P4 2.8Ghz 512M RAM. SondMax audio card. Philips DVD8631 (+-RW).

Update.
I'vediscovered I can overcome individual occurences by advancing or devancing (?) the start of the cut section a frame or two (still from hard drive) but this seems to set other cut sections into distortion!
Any ideas anyone?
