Error when trying to extract audio file as WAV via Virtual Dub

I have an Xvid video file that I'm trying to extract the audio from, so I can create a VCD TMPGEnc. It's an episode in a series of tv shows. I have successfully extracted the audio from a few previous episodes that were all encoded with Lame MP3 as well. But when I try to extract the audio from this particular file I get the error message "Error initializing audio stream decompression: The requsted conversion is not possible. Check to make sure you have the right codec."

These are the steps I'm following:

- Full processing mode
- No Compression (PCM)
- Sampling rate 44100Hz
- Save WAV...

When I look at the properties/summary of the file, the audio information is the same as the others except for the fact that it lists the audio sample size, which is 16bit. None of the other files list that bit of information.

I'd appreciate any help with this problem.
