I was wondering if someone has info on what dual layer cd's are about. I know a little info that they hold big sized data on them. Do I need to have a dual layer dvd burner to burn dvd's with? Will an 8gb movie fit perfectly on a 8x gb dvd disc? Any info on it will be appreciated. thanks guys.

A dual layer blank dvd disc will hold about 8.5 gig of data. Yes you do need a dual layer burner drive to use those discs. An 8 gig movie will fit on one with out any compression. The only drawback is the price of each blank is around $6. to $8. each. You want to make sure you don't produce any coasters with one of those.

thanks. But do regular 4.7gb discs also work on a dual layer burner or does it only need the 8.5 gb discs? Thanks again.

The dual layer drives can also burn the single layer blanks, but single layer drives can't burn dual layer blanks.

You can record a standard single layer DVD on a dual-layer burner, no problems.
