I have an Actiontec 802.11b Wireless Router Model # R3010UW but I don't know how to open the ports so that I can maximise my download speeds using bit torrent.

I use Bit Tornado and the torrent never turns green which means that my speeds aren't the best they can be.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me a set of instructions that would help me do this.

Thanks in advance

their you go :D

when you first install - one of the options/things it sets up is port forwarding, just go back into the software as you can see on the page.

I've already went in here and used the Advanced setup to try to forward these ports through the routers IP address (192.168.0.1)

Is that wrong? and do I need to use the actual computers IP address?

What an idiot I am!!!

I was forwarding ports in the normal bit torrent range (I forwarded 6881-6889) as opposed to the ports used for bit tornado which I am using (Now forwarded 10000-10010).

It's fine now and my download speeds are tip top.

Hi badgerboy
How did you sort it out. I am using ABC and can not get it to dl fast. My speed is really low. I have tried putting in the same ports 6881-6889 in both the Actiontec and the settings in ABC but I am still getting low speed. Any ideas?
thanks

I take it you've found your IP address

What I did was obtain my networked IP address via ipconfig and forwarded this address and the port range 10000-10010 (bit tornado uses 10000-60000).
So if you forward a small range of values in the range that ABC is set at then you should be fine.
