I have been having problems with my 980 rebooting during recording and playback and decided to try updating the firmware. I have downloaded the latest fw from Philips' website but when I try to install it, it gives the following messages:

BAD VERSION
DI 110384NEW
DI 110399OLD

The machine then shuts down, restarts and asks me to remove the disc.

The machine was left in for repair under warranty last July and has been working perfectly up until now. But it appears to have been upgraded at the factory to a higher fw rev than is currently available to consumers.

I have emailed Philips about this, but as I well know, they are notorious for the length of time it takes to respond to email help requests.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
