Alright im building my own pc and ive decided that im definatly going with an AMD processor. My budget is about 400 dollars, which includes the motherboard. Here are some pros and cons for both processors:
3500+:
2.2 Ghz
512 KB L2 cache
socket 939
costs about $270
they make motherboards for it with the nforce4 nvidia
chipset

3700+:
2.4 Ghz
1 MB L2 Cache
socket 754
costs about $300
they dont make motherboards for it with the nforce4
nvidia chipset, only the nforce3
amd is going to discontinue making 754s

Alright any ones oppinion will be grately appreciated! thanx.

go with the socket 939 as the 754 is near end of life so you have more cpu upgrades with the 939 socket in the future

Don't go for 754, 939 is the way to go, 939 support dual channel and AMD 64 benefit a lot from dual channel memory setup.

I don't think there is any motherboard support AGP with the nf4 chipset, they only support pci-e video card (correct me if I am wrong here)

thanx a lot. i think im going to go with the AMD 3500+ after all. I did some more research and found out it also has a higher FSB than the 3700+. if anyone has any suggestions as to what motherboard i should get, or maybe just some features i should look for, than by all means post them!

How can the 3500+ have a higher FSB when both chips use an onboard memory controller?

I would go with the 3500+. And by the way isnt the 3700+ for the 754 mobo's.
I myself own a 3500+ OC'd at 2.4 and a ASUS A8N SLI DELUXE. It runs preety good, but i need to upgrade my graphics card, i still own a regular pci card. I know what u think, what age do i live in. Its old but it'll suit me for another ohh say a month or so. I wanna get a 6800 GT PCI-E x16 card.
