I just got a PS2, and of course would like back ups. I had no success in backing up PC games, I used the Sonic Record Now as well as DVD X Copy software, both to no avail. So please help a new guy out. Will any of the forementioned suffice in burning PS2?

first you will need a modchip or a flip top. You will need a program like alchol 120% to burn the game, and rip. You need swap magic if you have a fliptop.

I went to a swap magic site and saw the mod chip that I need. Does the non solder work for all models? I don't know what you mean by flip top? Also, I'm still wondering if DVD X Copy will work for ripping, if not, I think you can get a trail or free copy of Alcohol.....Thanks for you help and replys.

The flip top is a replacement PS2 shell where the disk is loaded from the top in conjuntion with swap magic disk to load games. You would put in the swap magic disk and wait for it to load. Open the flip put in your backup load. It is used to avoid ejecting via the cd tray so the boot disk works. If you search it on the net you can find some pics and more info.

Thanks. Still my main question is then, what is the best way to burn these PS2 discs? Aren't they encrypted like a DVD?

theres no point in copying ps2 games until you get a mod device
download dvd decypter from this site (its free)
this will take care of most of your ps2 copying needs

im pretty sure the no solder part is a typo, they just copied the description from the fat ps2 fliptop. You wouldn't need it anyways with the fliptop.
