I desperately need help trying to figure this out. I have searched threads and sites for 2 months now. I can't fix this. My audio gradually gets worse as the movie goes along. I have ripped and burned 100 dvd-5 movies with no problem whatsoever. It's when I need to reencode the movie to make it fit on a dvd-5 is where I have the problem.
I rip in dvd decrypter. No problem. I strip in ifoedit. No problem.
Now what I do here is open up the vob files in dvd2avi v. 1.76.
Field operation is none
color space is yuv 422
yuv is pc scale
luminescence filter I don't touch
clip and resize I don't touch
audio track number 1
channel format auto select
dolby digital demux
mpeg audio demux
don't touch dts
48-44 off
normalization I don't touch
mp3 disable
idct algorythm 32 bit
normal process proirity
log film off
I usually do one vob at a time rather than the whole movie, so I usually end up with 5 or 6 vob's, just like the original movie. I have my m2v(d2v?) file and ac3 file with delays in the names. I have reencoded with TMPGEnc, ReMpeg, and CCE. All with the same exact results so please don't tell me it's one of the programs cuz it ain't.
The vob's will be off about 1 second at the end. Every vob, every time. So I thought maybe the demuxing was going wrong. I demuxed in vobedit. Same result.
So what else have I tried? I have put the audio into BeSweet and reencoded the audio delay. Got it synced in the beginning, but like I said, slowly goes off towards the end. Audio is going slower than video. So I tried to append a 1 second space at the end. I believe all this does is add a second to the total audio stream. Doesn't help one bit. I also tried to change the framerate from 29970 to 29980, but on a standalone, this doesn't work.
I have tried opening up an ac3 in cooledit pro but it doesn't recognize ac3's, unless I'm missing something.
The bottom line is this. What is causing this delay? Is it my computer? How do I fix this damn thing! I don't want to reencode my audio 17 times just to get the audio in sync. I want to find the root of the problem. I can understand taking the audio file and readjusting the delay once in BeSweet, but this is getting rediculous. There are some really cool dvd-9 movies I want to do but this is just driving me nuts. I'm begging you, please help me!
