Very annoying situation

Hi all,
I'm an Abit AN7 owner and consider it a very good bargain. I just have one annoying problem. Sometimes while I'm playing a game the sound simply goes off and I have to restart the pc to get sound again. An interesting fact is that when i troubleshooted direct sound with dxdiag Sound came out when hardware buffers were used but nothing came out when software buffers were used. Now there isn't a software section in the forums so I just posted here. Can anyone help. I got latest drivers from nvidia, ie, nforce 5.10 and the mobo is supposed to be equipped with Soundstorm sound, which is extremely good. My guess is that it's a Windows problem (you don't see any of those around now do you ? :P). Anyways if someone could help I'd be grateful.
