What was the disc you backed up(NTSC,Pal)? What are you trying to play it on?

wolfniggr is exactly on the right track you are either trying to play a PAL DVD in a NTSC system or you are trying to play a NTSC DVD in a PAL system..

I was unaware that my PS2 is not capable of playing PAL dvds (yes, i am a noob). Looking at a few other discs that displayed this message, they are all PAL dvds.

Is there anything I can do to make these dvds playable on my PS2?

For what it's worth, my dvds start off as AVI, then I basically follow Afterdawn's guide for converting them to dvd-r.

I think Nero Vision Express can convert PAL to NTSC or the other direction.

After loading an AVI to Tmpgeng and then using the "DVD NTSC" template (as described above), it produces an mpg. My question is what do I do with this mpg?

As I stated above, my ultimate goal is to produce a dvdr, and have looked for a guide to help me with this, but haven't found one.

Can someone please tell me how to create VOB files out of this mpg, or point me to a guide which covers this.

Anyone?

Another app you can use and its free and easy is DivXtoDVD..
Load File
Click convert
I dont think it can get any easier? :-)

You could have just used NVE from the start and there wouldnt be the need for all this conversion though :-)
